- Again, thats a bunch of crock..A flawed bus that can make it 24 TIMES
- SLOWER??? Yeah sure... I didn't write the article.. A respectable Amiga
- Magazine did the all the tests..
- My simple comparison was based on an average PCI 1 meg Pentium.
-
- And what are the specs of this Cyberstorm product??? Even if you wanna
- compare big guns... Compare it to my Matrox Millenia Pentium.. The same feat
- in less than 6 seconds at 24 bits... In two months, I'll have my new 16 meg
- Glint Video Card... Hmm, it might take me 1/6 of a second.

-
- Imagine 4.0 and Real 3d are jokes... Imagine 4,0 hasn't been improved much
- since the past year... So has any of the other products... And you try to
- compare it to Caligari ..Can Imagine 4.0 or Real 3D allow you to do
- "non-wireframe" modelling... Nope... At least Caligari Truespace (on the
- PC) gives you 3DR acceleration. Its sure a lot faster than any Amiga product
- I've seen.
-
- If the almighty Amiga apps are so great, why haven't I heard much from them...
- In the REAL 3d World, everyone's talking about SoftImagine and 3D Studio Max
- for NT... I don't give a fuck about platform loyalties or OSes..Sure, there is
- no doubt that Lightwave WAS good.. Thats all over now (for the Amiga scene).
- Time is money..I've worked with Amiga Lightwave, Mac Strata, and SGI Alias.. I
- see more development and powerful tools on the PC.. Not macs, not Amigas.
- I'm selling off my SGI rR4400 200 Mhz Workstation so I can run SoftImagine on
- the PeeCee... I even see a lot of Workstation owners taking a serious look at
- the PC NT platform for work. Once, I see Lightwave catch up to SoftImagine, I
- might just go back to the Amiga. Can an Amiga do REAL TIME modelling????
- Nope.. Haven't seen it.. I don't care how much money you put into it.. Its
- still not going to match a modern day PC......OOOOppps.. I forgot, no way in
- hell is any, ANY, ANY Amiga compete with a multithreading, multi-processor
- based Pentium PC running NT. The almighty Amiga Operating System 3.1 doesn't
- crack it.. Who needs a custom chips when I have multiple processors... Bye
- Agnus, Bye Paula, bye bye.. Denise...

-
- Again, you didn't clearly get my message... 20 Amiga 2000 ' 040s compared to
- one Pentium Pro... I said "REAL TIME"... Can an Amiga Suped UP compare to an
- Open GL, Glint accelerated PC... IF so, this Amiga is a lot faster than my SGI
- or PC. Wake up and smell the coffee.. The Next platform for the 3d market
- will be NT based PC... Heck, those new shiny 16 meg OPen GL, GLint Video cards
- can compete and SURPASS those Suns and SGIs.
-

-
- Again thats total bullshit...
-
- I've worked with various apps and platforms and nothing compares to Photoshop
- on the Mac or PC NT. Even the Sun and SGIs do not have anything comparable
- (even their ports of Photoshop is horrible).
- Whats the largest image file you ever work with... HOW MANY DAYS will it take
- the Amiga do a SIMPLE gaussian blur on one of my 40 meg + 1200 dpi image
- file??? The original example I cites was a 768x 512 file.. Probably at 72 dpi
- and small enough to fit on an Amiga 800k floppy.. And it took 6 MINUTES.. Good
- grief..
- And to be honest, I don't think Photogenics can ever handle a 40+ meg file...
- From what I remember, Amigas don't support File swapping.. If not, how amigas
- have you seen with over 64 megs of real ram.. If so, how fast is the Ram
- without wait state or bottlenecks to perform such feats??
-
- >
-
- >The Cybervision 64 will easily perform the Graphic modes you mention, i'll be
- >buying one soon.
-
- Oohhh.. Sure,, Like it can do 1600x 1600 at 24 bits.. Again, does this card
- support new APIs like Open GL, 3DR.. Does it have support for Full motion Mpeg
- and soon DVD.. Can it render faster than a SONY playstation or Sega Saturn??
-
- I figure the answer is a BIG NO... Man, it was sure great to play Virtual
- Fighter on my Girlfriends 12 year old brother's PeeCee the otherday... REAL
- Time , Full motion, Immersive 3D..
-
- I have a nice 600k VRML file created on my SGI and ported over to my PC.. Let
- see if this video card can let you walk through my building in real time with
- full textures... Ooooops... I forgot, Amigas don't support VRML. But when or
- if it ever does, I'll be more than happy to email it to you. Lets see how your
- Almighty Amiga crawl to a sudden halt before you reach the door..

- Who says were talking about win95... My PeeCee can run Sun Solaris, BSD,
- Linux, Windows NT or NextStep..
-
- And like the Amiga Work Bench is intuitive... It is so sloppy.. Even Magic
- WorkBench is a sloppy remedial cover-up.

- 800 x 600 @ 24 bits is a given on a normal modern PC... If not, just fork out
- another $60-$100 bucks for a decent video card.
